Does it make sense to buy a liferaft that is bigger than neccessary ? (i.e. a 7-8 person life raft for only 3-4 people)

For years it has been reported throughout the media that a life raft should be somewhat larger than necessary. We are of a quite different opinion. First of all, a life raft should serve to protect one from hypothermia. The simplest way to do this is to sit in a space which isn't too big because a smaller space is easier to warm. Additionally, it is better to huddle close together inside the life raft in order to warm each other and to compensate for the wave movement. In too large a life raft you could be thrown around inside if the wind is harsh.
