"SECUMAR
Island"
Quality made by DSB
For the first time SECUMAR, in cooperation with its partner company
DSB - has brought life rafts into its programme. The background
to this is the experience that increasing numbers of recreational
boating enthusiasts are taking part in longer and longer sailing
passages.
"SECUMAR Island" – that is the name of the only life raft for
leisure boating under German production – it unites all of DSB’s
experiences drawn from commercial shipping. That means: the highest
demands on quality are fulfilled. The type of raw materials used
contribute to this. The life rafts of the type "SECUMAR Island"
are manufactured from top quality rubber material, cold vulcanised
and are thus more robust and weather-resistant than models made
of PVC. For plastics often become brittle and crack when they
are exposed to salt water and extreme changes in temperature –
like life rafts which are often exposed to full sun on deck.

| The
tubing of "SECUMAR Island" was joined in a special multi-chambered
technique. This means that it has become virtually impossible for
the upper part to become detached from the lower part. Even if one
chamber begins to leak, the other keeps the occupants of the life
raft above water. |

The particular
way in which the canopy tubing is constructed gives "SECUMAR
Island" a property hitherto unknown in life rafts: it does not
remain upside down, but rather, it automatically turns into
the right position! Steps made of glass fibre rods facilitate
entry to the life raft.
