Radio beacon and RT-202 antenna system
The radio tracker, installed on the boat, receives the alarm from the emergency radio beacon and provides a direction back to the casualty. Wider use of the radio tracker on commercial ships, SAR boats and helicopters also enables outside help to directly track casualties. The system is currently being used by the German DGzRS, the Dutch Pilots, SSRS and Swedish Coastguard, Danish and Italian Navy as well as the 2008/2009 Volvo Ocean Race.
