For the 2003 season SECUMAR is presenting a giant step forward in lifejacket technology. WINDOW is the name of the products which incorporate several innovations pointing the way ahead.
To these belongs the SECUMATIC 4001 S. This name signifies the next generation of automatic inflators. The principle is simple and pioneering: for the first time ever all functions can be monitored on one single status indicator.
The display shows whether an intact automatic pill is in place, which will activate the mechanism when it dissolves in water. In addition, one can see at a glance whether the carbon dioxide cylinder whose gas inflates the buoyancy chamber has been inserted correctly. You can even see whether this cylinder is full (green) as it should be, or whether it is empty because it has already been triggered (red). In previous models it was necessary to check several indicators to do this. The status of the cylinder remained completely unknown. Now, only a single glance at a red/green indicator suffices to note everything regarding the level of safety of the equipment.
SECUMAR has set worldwide standards with this indicator technology and has also become a technological leader in the United States. Since spring 2002 the inflator SECUMATIC 4001 S is approved by the US Coast Guard. In the United States the partnering company is STEARNS Inc, St. Cloud, Minnesota, marketing this technology commencing early 2003.
Insertion of the carbon dioxide cylinders has, moreover, become easier in the WINDOW life jackets with the new automatic inflator. A screw thread is not used as it has been up to now, but rather the cylinder is inserted using a bayonet catch. By means of this patented technique there is a guarantee for the first time that only a full cylinder can be installed which is correctly locked into position. An empty cylinder is signalized by a red window.
Revolutionary changes in puncto user-friendliness as well: the control WINDOW which the lifejackets are called after. The state of the automatic inflator can be comfortably checked through a transparent window in the protective cover. Additionally, a newly designed click-fastener with double safety system contributes to comfort in wear.
The company Bernhardt Apparatebau GmbH u. Co from Wedel near Hamburg has been a world leader for decades in the field of designing and manufacturing life jackets. Consistent research and the highest demands placed on quality distinguish the company from others.
