Wedel to Holm. Finally it begins! Construction of the new premises of Bernhardt Apparatebau & Co Ltd has begun in Holm, Germany. The Ground-breaking ceremony took place at the construction sight. Mayor of Holm Walter Rißler, building contractor Jens Höhns, architect Günter Mühleisen, and managing director and company owner Jan-Ulrich Bernhardt symbolically broke ground together.
This was the beginning of one of the largest projects in the history of SECUMAR. The new building comprises 5,000 square meters (52,000 square feet) of production and administration facilities and will be erected on a plot of approximately 10,000 square meters (105,000 square feet). Construction time is scheduled to take only five months and the company is planning to move to Holm in November. The investment cost amounts to approximately 5 million Euros (6 million US dollars).
“We are glad that construction can finally start,” said Bernhardt, “the new building is urgently needed as our need for space has far exceeded present capacity.” Until now, Bernhardt Apparatebau & Co Ltd., which manufactures and distributes life jackets under the name SECUMAR, was located in the nearby town of Wedel, close to Hamburg. Production and storage have been carried out in over six sites. Now, all sites are to be merged into one location and there will be plenty of room for expansion.
During the ground-breaking ceremony Bernhardt thanked the mayor of Holm for his cooperation which led to a smooth transition into the preliminary stages of the construction. “We have always received quick answers and plenty of help for our requests. All bureaus and official departments have worked closely with us and with each other”, Bernhardt said.
Bernhardt was optimistic that project “New Building” will be completed as smoothly as the pre-construction phase. Progress of the construction work can be tracked in the photo gallery.
